- We are using a 386 with 4 meg of ram and an 80 meg hard drive to run our OCR
- package and it does quite nicely. We find that if we scan more than 8 pages
- at a time without having OCR translate it runs into problems. I am not sure
- where this problem comes from. We are using a HP scanjet plus with Calera
- Wordscan Plus. I am told that it is very hard to do OCR with a hand held
- scanner. Apparently it is hard to get a straight and even scan with the
- hand held unit. This is needed for good OCR. Wordscan maintains things like
- underline, bold, tabs and columns for WordPerfect translations. We like it
- alot. There are errors and it does need help. They say a fast accurate
- typist is better. But then "they" say alot things.
