  20. I have not contributed before to this discussion group, but I have
  21. gained alot of useful information through my participation over the
  22. past several months.  Some may think that what I am about to say here
  23. is inappropriate for this forum.  However, given what I have read over
  24. the past several days, most of which has arisen over the issue of
  25. Motif, I feel a need to say it.

  27. It's no secret to anyone who works with DEC and follows the trades,
  28. that DEC is in disarray. I believe it's going to get worse before it
  29. gets better.  Business issues aside, anytime a family loses a father,
  30. which is essentially what will happen when Ken Olsen steps down, it is
  31. a traumatic event.  DEC is bound to go through some turmoil which will
  32. result in some, possibly dramatic, changes.  While it is reasonable
  33. for us as customers, particularly in The Education Initiative, to show
  34. some concern, I think it is at least equally important that we show
  35. some support.

  37. For my own part, I feel that DEC has been a supportive and cooperative
  38. partner of my organization for many years.  They have been helpful,
  39. and, overall, my relationship with DEC has been a positive experience.
  40. Without initiatives from DEC like TEI, I can safely say that this
  41. institution would not have been able to do much of what it is doing
  42. today.  I, for one, intend to try to weather the storm, and stick with
  43. DEC for the long haul.
