  30. I can't comment on Banyan specifically, but we found that the PC
  31. client tries to write to the Rez and Log files regardless of 
  32. whether the disk it loaded from is mounted for writes.  So from
  33. a file server, where it loads from a read-only disk, the app dies.
  34. One solution was to have our menuing software make a local copy
  35. of Gopher to load from the local PC's hard disk.  Later, a programmer
  36. here at MSU hacked the client to open the files for read only.  If
  37. that hasn't been posted to the net we'll ask him to do so.

  39. But it may be that none of that has anything to do with your Banyan
  40. problems....
