  27. ABSTRACT:

  29. The Connection Machine CM-5 Supercomputer system is described with
  30. emphasis on the solution to large scale scientific problems.  The
  31. system architecture is presented including processing node
  32. architecture, communication network, control network, I/O structure
  33. and timesharing.   Connection Machine software including languages,
  34. compilers, application libraries, and interactive debuggers are also
  35. discussed.

  37. ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
  38.  
  39. John Richardson is a Senior Scientist at Thinking Machines Corporation
  40. where he works on computational physics problems.  He received his Ph.D.
  41. in theoretical physics from the University of California at Irvine in
  42. 1977.  Before joining Thinking Machines Corporation, Dr. Richardson was
  43. a faculty member at the University of California at Santa Barbara in
  44. the Electrical and Computer Engineering department and was a recipient
  45. of a Presidential Young Investigator award.
