- Why are you looking for grant sources? You shouldn't have to
- write a proposal as an undergrad or even as a graduate student. You should
- only start getting into grant writing as a post-doc. It is hard
- enough for a seasoned principal investigator to write a grant proposal that
- gets funded. You would be wasting valueable time.
-
- The best suggestion I can give you is DONT WRITE ONE. Are these faculty
- members you speak of expecting you to write a grant proposal? If so, either
- they are trying to tell you that your project is a bad idea and that no one
- is willing to support it or they are shmucks trying to get you to do their
- dirty work. Doing the project is your job. Getting you the means to do
- that project is a faculty member's job.
-
- Granting agencies measure the experitise of the grant writer. If you are
- a neophyte (as you say) they won't even consider your proposal, even if you
- it's a brilliant idea.
-
- Sorry to be so negative. I've been a party to a number of grant proposals.
- I've watched people who were at the top of their field get turned down time
- and time again. Writing a grant proposal as an undergrad would be cruel
- punishment.
