- Yep.

- 4 cycling, for sure, does not mean that your engine really works in 4
- separate cycles. It just means that the mixture is so rich, that the
- glow plug cannot cause ignition every 2nd cycle but only every 4th
- cycle. This causes a very low sound due to the fact that your engine
- has one ignition per two revolutions (like a real 4 stroke engine).
- If your engine has that typical high-pitched sound of a 2 stroke
- engine it's no more 4 cycling ...
-
- 6 turns out is really a lot !! This is evidence that something must be
- wrong in fuel supply. Check the nipple in the muffler whether it's
- blocked by oil cake or something like that.
- If you haven't the possibility to totally remove the fuel from the
- tank on the end of flying and you pause for some days, there's the
- possibility that the castor oil in the fuel resinifies. This could
- accidentially block the fuel supply lines. Or perhaps the diameter of
- your fuel lines is to small to provide the carburettor sufficiently
- with fuel. Has that plane/motor crashed yet ?? Then the needle could
- be bent. So 6 turns out would be ok, but that's really the only case
- in which so many turns would be justified.
-
- Ah, I almost forgot: Another reason for a lean mixture in flight (like
- you discribed it) could be the existence of foam in your tank caused
- by motor vibrations. Is your tank protected against those vibrations
- (i.e. with foam rubber) ?? Anyway, try to protect it better, it's also
- useful to prevent the tank from being damaged in crashed =:).
-
- Hope I could help you.
-
- Bye,
- Torsten.
