- One possible cause:

- Early Audi 4000's have been notorious for developing excessive vacuum
- in the gas-tank because of a faulty vent-line valve (I forgot its proper
- name :) ) which is located just above the tank. To reach it, you will have
- to remove the plastic tank-cover in the trunk behind the rear seat.
- I have seen collapsed gas-tanks because of this. Strong fuel pump, no? :)
