- one thing, but a 4' chain (there and back) would be awfully sloppy and hard
- to control. Plus belts are a lot cheaper to make (though not necessarily to
- -buy- for the poor sap who needs one). When the dealers are selling to folks
- who trade in their cars every 2 years, the manufacturers don't care much about
- what happens after the warranty expires. Hey, enough people have bad luck with
- used cars, maybe they'll start buying new again, the way God and Madison
- Avenue intended.
