- One thing that no one in this thread has mentioned yet:

- Did your editor point out why she wanted the revisions? Did she
- explain why a different approach might work better? If not, did you
- ask?

- When I started out in journalism, I was fortunate to work for and
- with a number of people who provided good insights in these areas. I
- learned a lot more from them than from all the journalism classes,
- many of which were taught by people with limited experience.

- Journalism covers a broad spectrum. What may be right for one
- audience in one situation may not be right for another audience in
- another. It may be a case not of something not being written well
- but of something not being appropriate for a particualr situation.

- A good editor has a clear concept of what works for a particular
- publication's audience and should be able to explain that.
