  28. Dear Friends,
  29.  
  30.      I am writing to ask for your in an extraordinary effort to
  31. raise funds for mental health work in El Salvador.  This is a
  32. project sponsored by the Bravo Fund, Central American Mission,
  33. Partners, US-El Salvador Sister Cities and Jesuit Refugee
  34. Services in Central America.  This letter is to ask you to help
  35. me raise funds through the following campaign.
  36.  
  37.      John Guiliano is a social worker who volunteered in El
  38. Salvador during the late eighties, and during the early eighties
  39. worked in Tijuana with refugees from all of Central America.  IN
  40. El Salvador, he worked in Chalatenango with the repopulated
  41. communities.  With them , he experienced the horrors of war.  He
  42. is now riding his bicycle from Ne York to El Salvador in order to
  43. raise consciousness about the continuing crisis in El Salvador
  44. and to raise funds for mental health work there. The tour is
  45. titled The Time to Heal Tour: a bicycle pilgrimage for peace and
  46. justice in El Salvador.  It began at the United Nations on May 22
  47. and will arrive at the tomb of the Jesuits martyred in San
  48. Salvador with two co-workers on November 16th to commemorate the
  49. third anniversary of their assassinations.
  50.  
  51.      As I write this, John is leaving Seattle and has already
  52. covered 5,000 miles on the bike, crossing the rockies, the mid
  53. west and going as far north as Marquette, September 4th.  On the
  54. 29th we will have a special reception for him at Dolores Baptist
  55. Church on 15th and Dolores in San Francisco. That same night
  56. there will be a dance at the Women' Building on 18th and Valencia
  57. (also in S.F.) at 8 p.m. We also hope to have a dinner for him
  58. (or a reception) with the mental health community of the Bay Area
  59. (this is yet to be confirmed).

  61.      Please come have fun and support mental health and
  62. reconstruction work in El Salvador.
