- The Time To Heal Bike Tour
-
- Dear Friends,
-
- I am writing to ask for your in an extraordinary effort to
- raise funds for mental health work in El Salvador. This is a
- project sponsored by the Bravo Fund, Central American Mission,
- Partners, US-El Salvador Sister Cities and Jesuit Refugee
- Services in Central America. This letter is to ask you to help
- me raise funds through the following campaign.
-
- John Guiliano is a social worker who volunteered in El
- Salvador during the late eighties, and during the early eighties
- worked in Tijuana with refugees from all of Central America. IN
- El Salvador, he worked in Chalatenango with the repopulated
- communities. With them , he experienced the horrors of war. He
- is now riding his bicycle from Ne York to El Salvador in order to
- raise consciousness about the continuing crisis in El Salvador
- and to raise funds for mental health work there. The tour is
- titled The Time to Heal Tour: a bicycle pilgrimage for peace and
- justice in El Salvador. It began at the United Nations on May 22
- and will arrive at the tomb of the Jesuits martyred in San
- Salvador with two co-workers on November 16th to commemorate the
- third anniversary of their assassinations.
-
- As I write this, John is leaving Seattle and has already
- covered 5,000 miles on the bike, crossing the rockies, the mid
- west and going as far north as Marquette, September 4th. On the
- 29th we will have a special reception for him at Dolores Baptist
- Church on 15th and Dolores in San Francisco. That same night
- there will be a dance at the Women' Building on 18th and Valencia
- (also in S.F.) at 8 p.m. We also hope to have a dinner for him
- (or a reception) with the mental health community of the Bay Area
- (this is yet to be confirmed).
-
- Please come have fun and support mental health and
- reconstruction work in El Salvador.
-
- For those of you outside of the Bay Area or those who cannot
- come, or have questions about the possible dinner I mentioned or
- simply want to send money (thanks) please call 510-644-2267. Or
- send any donation to CAMP/Time to Heal at P.O. Box 10206,
- Oakland, CA 94610.
-
- Thanks in advance for your support and I hope to see you all
- on the 29th.
- Other stops; Santa Cruz (sept 4), Monterrey (5-9), Los Angeles(9-
- 10), Vista (10-15), San Diego (9-16) Possibly San Luis Obispo,
- Ventura, Malibu.

- In Gratitude,
-
