- :We only get a few Usenet groups for that reason, because we get charged by both

- : ftpmail/e-mail, ..etc. from the appropriate archives/persons.
- :I think this is more appropriate in a international network like Usenet, and to

-
- While this will often work in theory, what usually happens is that there are
- a few hundred "I don't have ftp access" or "I do not get that group, could
- someone e-mail them to me" messages that follow up the post announcement.
- While the volume will probably be less than the total of the FAS driver, it
- is a bit annoying to go through all the followup postings. Of course what
- one should do is subscribe to the proper source groups (which is what I do).
- But there always seem to be newbees that get a couple groups and think that
- is all they need.
-
- By the way, I also pay *PERSONALLY* for news (the phone call), so I can
- appreciate the point of view.

- Isn't there a place closer than uunet to you folks? Or is this just
- a well known reference point for uucp mail?
