- We just got ESIX 4.04 here on a Dell 486/20. We're having some difficulty
- with the ethernet setup. Our network consists of about a dozen PCs, a
- server, and a few different *nix boxes. We have no problems communicating
- between the *nix boxes via ping/rlogin/rsh/telnet/ftp (NFS is another
- matter). And we have no problems communicating between the PCs and all
- the *nix boxes other than the ESIX box via ftp/rsh/telnet. However, when
- we try doing a rsh or rcp from a PC to the ESIX system it invariably
- gives a "connection timed out" error message greater than 50% of the time.
-
- The only thing I found that sounds like a problem is that when I do an
- ifconfig -a it reports the ethernet board (emd0) as
-
- "flags=23<UP,BROADCAST,NOTRAILERS>"
-
- instead of
-
- "flags=23<UP,BROADCAST,NOTRAILERS,RUNNING>"
-
- The board is a 3Com 3c503 and I am not getting any errors on startup from
- the ethernet board. I've been having trouble talking to a human in tech
- support so I thought I'd give this a shot while I'm waiting. Any ideas?
