- the problem here is that the X server needs a vt?? virtual console
- device to run.

- the poster here probally enabled all of the vt devices in his/her
- /dev directory.

- the solution is to disable one or create a new one and not enable
- it. I could not for the life of me understand why one would have
- all of the virtual consoles enabled if one wanted to run the
- machine as an X workstation!!
