- The reason behind posting was that I had corresponded with several people
- who were having similar problems *until* they did what I suggested. In
- particular they were creating more than exactly *one* FDISK partition. When
- they deleted all partitions except the single DOS partition (which was
- the first partition on the disk) the problems dissapeared. This has also
- worked on every system I have installed it on, each of which has an approx
- 30MB dos partition followed by BSD as installed by TinyBSD.

- Thanks for the terifficly usefull advice. However, my base of experience
- was several (different) systems in my office, plus the people I have
- corresponded to on the net, and thus not just ``me''. My motto in these
- cases is ``it's always something simple'', because---well---it almost
- always is; so many of the exotic explainations end up being wrong.
