- Well, I was unhappy to discover that SAM doesn't work reliably under
- A/UX 3.0 (I can't speak for any other versions). There are a couple
- of problems:
-
- 1. The Virus Clinic doesn't work at all. Attempts to invoke it fail
- with a message about the Virus Definitions file being hosed. Not
- that big a deal, since I didn't usually use the Virus Clinic much.
-
- 2. SAM Intercept works except for one problem - when you terminate the
- Mac session (by logging out), you get a bizarre alert box about how
- SAM Intercept has been modified, but it couldn't find itself in the
- System Folder. Bizarre, but usually harmless, as clicking on the
- Proceed button usually works, but sometimes not.
-
- The main frustrating thing was that phone calls to Symantec and A/UX
- support were both fruitless. The Symantec person claimed that it was
- probably something wrong with A/UX, despite the fact that SAM worked
- perfectly under MacOS. A call to A/UX support didn't get me anywhere,
- as my call was never returned. Finally I gave up and installed the
- Disinfectant init.
