  21. One of the reasons why you will see horrendous bugs discussed on usenet
  22. and not reported to the IBM "Defect Support Center" (who thought up that
  23. name?!) is the absurd difficulty of submitting a simple piece of test
  24. code to IBM.

  26. Fact 1:  In about 100 calls, I have not found a single person at DSC who
  27. was aware of the existance of the "aixserv" service for submitting PMR's
  28. and supporting material via the internet.  You can certainly use it anyway
  29. if you know about it, but if you don't, the DSC people won't know enough
  30. to suggest it.

  32. With the number of disgusting regression bugs, not to mention new
  33. ones, in AIX 3.2, I simply cannot submit every one I find.

  35. (AIX 3.2.2 plus the latest update tape ("U405614 and others") contain more
  36. than 300 updates which each contain multiple "fixes".  I get to apply these
  37. to 30 machines.  There isn't enough time in the world to even figure out
  38. which of them I really need.)

  41. Fact 2: The last time I submitted some supporting C code via
  42. "aixserv", all the square and curly brackets got changed to blanks
  43. (presumably by some EBCDIC translate table) and I had to spend an hour
  44. on the phone telling somebody where to put them back.
