- Hi everybody,
-
- I have a Sun Sparc2 4.1.1 machine, and I am trying to set up the system
- accounting to track how much users use cpu time and connect time.
- I did the neccessary things to start up the accounting and I got the
- final accounting file that gets generated automatically at the end of each
- month.
-
- Brousing through the monthly accounting file, I found out that the CPU and
- CONNECT times were shown in minutes and not in seconds, meaning that if a user
- uses 30 seconds of cpu time, his cpu time in the monthly accounting file will
- be shown as 0 and not 0.30; therefore, 30 seconds are unaccounted for.
-
- Since we are in an educational environment, we use the accounting system to
- charge other departments that use our systems, thus, having CPU and CONNECT
- time in seconds is very important.
-
- I tried to use "sa -m", then I was hit by another surprise. 'sa -m' only lists
- information about active users (users who are currently logged on) and not
- keeping track and listing information based on the life of wtmp file.
-
- If any of you have any idea how to work around this problem please send an
- email to:
