- Hello all
-
- I have been trying for the last week to get one of those *blessed*
- slip pprograms to actually work and dial out of a Sparc 1+/SunOS4.1.2
- with out any luck. I have tried slipdial...sliplogin...slip4.0...and
- slip4.1beta.
-
- Needless to say, all of these came with little documentation if any.
- A person would have to be a star gazer to figure out what the hell the
- author was trying to say in first place. I must have built at least
- 8+ kernels today trying to get slip4.1 to work and finally got the
- kernel built and the source compiled. And what next? the doc only
- gave one vaguely stupid example with two arbitrary IP numbers and
- a netmask...Nowhere did the doc say how to dial out? How to use tip
- and how to actually get your modem to respond?
-
- I would appreciate any help on this subject...Can some kind soul out
- there PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE write a step by step guide on how to dial
- out to a slip server from a sun workstation? How to use tip and
- finally what to do with slip-attach when you have dialed out.
-
- I am very grateful to those people who actually spent the time and
- wrote the slip monsterosity. But how can someone else use your code
- without any instructions.
-
- I would appreciate any help. Thank You
-
