- i have a 'sgi' 8mm exabyte tape drive, pi 4d35 running
- 4.0.2 . After trying to switch tapes (by physically
- pushing the eject button on the tape drive) i got
- the following response from the 'mt status' command:
-
- no such device
-
- An entry did show up when i typed
-
- ls -l /dev/nrtape
-
- the date and time though on this entry is about the same
- time as i tried to eject the tape. I should also mention
- that I have had this tape drive for over a year without
- problems. After cd'ing to /dev as root I used
-
- MAKEDEV tape
-
- in order to try and re-make the
- /dev/nrtape device. It didn't work.
-
- I would appreciate any advice on how to get my tape device
- back. Does anyone have a clue as to what may have happened
- in the first place?
- Thanks,
