  11. I have installed setup my kernel to make symmon available
  12. according to the instructions in "IRIX Device Driver Programming Guide,"
  13. Document Number 007-0911-020, 3/92.

  15. When I enter symmon by typing ^A and then type:
  16.     kp scsi 0
  17. I get:
  18.     WD93A controller at 0xb7f08007
  19.     AUX 0x0 ...
  20.     .
  21.     .
  22.     .
  23.     CMD 0x8 DATA 0xff <and then it hangs right here>

  25. What I mean by <and then it hangs right there> is that the cursor
  26. is left at then end of "0xff" and no newline seems to be output.
  27. Not only that, but now symmon is dead, and ^A will not bring it back.

  29. Is this a known problem on Crimson, or is there something
  30. wrong with my IO3 board?

  32. Where "*" above indicates characters written in by hand with ink,
  33. identification numbers on my IO3 board read:

  49. We have a timing - related problem that may be a bug in IRIX or
  50. in our specific hardware that is evidenced by a temporally tempramental
  51. set of: 6 x read(80 bytes), ioctl(forward space file), n x read(8192 bytes),
  52. ioctl(forward space file) 6 x read(80 bytes).  And that is why I want
  53. to know whether "kp scsi 0" is supposed to work.

  55. Oh yes, the Crimson passes all diagnostics we have run. Of course there
  56. doesn't seem to be much documentation on them so it is hard to be sure
  57. we are using them correctly.

  59. Kudos to anyone who has even a single photon of light to shine on this
  60. problem.
