- | The installation guide is indeed a great help! SGI has come a LONG way with
- | their documnentation. I still have one question ( and I hope it's not a FAQ).
- | If I have to build a system disk from scratch ( in this case a DAT tape made
- | using distcp), how do I get sash and ide on the new disk's volume header?
-
- It is done as part of the install. There is a postop rule for these
- files that uses dvhtool to install them (grep for sash in the eoe1.idb).
-
- | (OH, This drive is not shipped from SGI)
-
- Doesn't matter.
-
- | Using the bootable DAT tape, I can format the drive, but without sash on the
- | volume header, forget about using the choice #2 from the PROM (Install system)
- | or #4 (Recover System).
-
- Huh? If the tape is bootable, it doesn't matter. sash is loaded from the
- tape, not from the disk drive. That is the definition of a bootable
- tape...
