  24. I do not like to complain too much, because I am generally quite
  25. happy with the SGI machines that I use, but I must agree with this
  26. guy.

  28. With NeWS, we got a calculator that could neither add, subtract,
  29. multiply or divide.  With the coming of X, people said 'xcalc is
  30. great!  best thing ever'.  Withing 25 seconds of using it the first
  31. time, I found two really bad precision errors.  I complained to the 
  32. TAC, and on the net, and was told to take a walk.

  34. Come on, this is a sophmore year, semester's end project!  Build a 
  35. calculator that uses BCD and can intelligently say "I have an error".
  36. I realize the difficulties associated with the transcendental
  37. functions, but this still is not that difficult.  There is really 
  38. no excuse to have such a bad calculator.  It would be better to delete
  39. it from the distribution than to still ship it.

  41. Sombody out there at SGI will probably flame me for this, but I have
  42. been around and around for YEARS on this exact same issue, and SGI
  43. still ships a bad calculator.  It grew old long ago....

  45. I use my $20 Radio Shaft calculator, or the one built into my
  46. terminal... but I still like my Irides.
