  17. I strongly suggest you look at the new Impressario printing software
  18. product from SGI.  (Formerly called "PrintVision.")
  19.  
  20. It includes support for HP LaserJets and DeskJet 500C for SGI Image,
  21. ASCII & ISO text, and B&W/Color PostScript WITHOUT requiring a
  22. PostScript cartridge on the printer.  All rendering is done on the
  23. host, and the bitmap alone is shipped down to the printer.

  25. Impressario also provides a tremendous step up from existing printing
  26. environment: end-user GUI tools to set printer options, ability to
  27. perform lots of manipulations on images and text, and a GUI tool which
  28. will tell you the real-time status of an Impressario printer,
  29. including whether it is out of paper, offline, cover open, etc..

  31. All future printing enhancements will be done as part of Impressario.
