- I strongly suggest you look at the new Impressario printing software
- product from SGI. (Formerly called "PrintVision.")

- It includes support for HP LaserJets and DeskJet 500C for SGI Image,
- ASCII & ISO text, and B&W/Color PostScript WITHOUT requiring a
- PostScript cartridge on the printer. All rendering is done on the
- host, and the bitmap alone is shipped down to the printer.

- Impressario also provides a tremendous step up from existing printing
- environment: end-user GUI tools to set printer options, ability to
- perform lots of manipulations on images and text, and a GUI tool which
- will tell you the real-time status of an Impressario printer,
- including whether it is out of paper, offline, cover open, etc..
