- Disaster!
- Oscar the Grouch no longer pops out of his trash can and sings to me!
-
- I'm having a number of other random problems, such as an external disk
- that only sometimes automounts, but this one has me worried.
-
- When I boot, Oscar shows up in the line of extension icons, just as he
- should. This is the only indication that he installed; he doesn't
- show up on the menu, and emptying the trash just empties the trash,
- period. I replaced Oscar with another copy from a machine where he
- does still work. Didn't help. I re-installed System 7 (in an
- unsuccessful attempt to cure the automount problem). Didn't help.
-
- I use a number of ini--er, extensions--but I haven't installed any new
- ones lately. Loading Oscar with no other extensions--ok, presumably
- with System 7 TuneUp--doesn't help.
-
- I hate it when things fail in incomprehensible ways. Does anyone have
- a clue what might be going on?

- And the President put his hand on my shoulder and said: "Dan,
- I _knew_ Spiro Agnew. He was a friend of mine. And Dan...
- You're no Spiro Agnew!"
