  13. Oscar the Grouch no longer pops out of his trash can and sings to me!

  15. I'm having a number of other random problems, such as an external disk
  16. that only sometimes automounts, but this one has me worried.

  18. When I boot, Oscar shows up in the line of extension icons, just as he
  19. should.  This is the only indication that he installed; he doesn't
  20. show up on the menu, and emptying the trash just empties the trash,
  21. period.  I replaced Oscar with another copy from a machine where he
  22. does still work.  Didn't help.  I re-installed System 7 (in an
  23. unsuccessful attempt to cure the automount problem).  Didn't help.

  25. I use a number of ini--er, extensions--but I haven't installed any new
  26. ones lately.  Loading Oscar with no other extensions--ok, presumably
  27. with System 7 TuneUp--doesn't help.

  29. I hate it when things fail in incomprehensible ways.  Does anyone have
  30. a clue what might be going on?
