- Will At Ease be available at ftp.apple.com or will it be like
- Remote Appletalk (gotta buy it or schmooze it)?
-
- At Ease is a commercial product, not System software. As with any commercial
- software, you have to BUY it ("schmooze it" is NOT a valid way to acquire it).
- I think people have become too greedy -- they expect Apple to give away
- everything for free (or at least make it available to those who don't want
- to have to pay for it).
- From observing Apple of late, I would suggest that any product which Apple
- places a price on is commercial software, but any System software (or any
- extension which is expected to be rolled into a later System release, such
- as QuickTime) will be made available (minus the documentation and technical
- support) via FTP or the various online services. System 7.x and QT are
- System-level software. Macintosh PC Exchange, QuickTime Starter Kit, and
- At Ease are NOT, therefore they must be purchased in order to be legally
- used.
- So none of this "schmooze" (i.e. - get an illegal copy from a friend) stuff.
