  28. AHA-- there's the tipoff.  Listen carefully to your machine, and I
  29. suspect you'll find the drive is not running-- it suffers from
  30. stiction,  the heads are stuck to the platters.  The only permanent
  31. solution is to replace the disk.  A temporary solution is to leave the
  32. drive on, once you have started it.  A stuck drive can often be
  33. started by rapping the side of the SE/30 near the drive with the binding
  34. of a paperback or your hand, just as you turn the machine on.
