- AHA-- there's the tipoff. Listen carefully to your machine, and I
- suspect you'll find the drive is not running-- it suffers from
- stiction, the heads are stuck to the platters. The only permanent
- solution is to replace the disk. A temporary solution is to leave the
- drive on, once you have started it. A stuck drive can often be
- started by rapping the side of the SE/30 near the drive with the binding
- of a paperback or your hand, just as you turn the machine on.
