- I currently have a Jasmine DirectDrive portable external hard disk and
- I am going crazy trying to get the thing to work consistently. If you
- have one of these things or if you know anything about how to get it
- to work properly please read on.
-
- The problem is that the hard drive does not always mount when the computer
- is turned on. If there are more than one partitions, it will mount all but
- the boot partition always, but it is about 50/50 odds that it will mount the
- boot partition. When it doesn't mount, I can get it to mount sometimes by
- using the software which comes with the hard drive, but this only works for
- a while and even then it can take a half-hour to mount it. If I can't get
- it to mount, the only way I can get it to work is to re-format it. I have
- been having this problem for over a year sporatically, but since Jasmine is
- out of business, the only tech help I have been able to get is a suggestion
- by another vendor that I should try purchasing other drive software. Do
- you think this will work? I am just about ready to toss the drive in the
- garbage, but I don't have the money to replace it so for now I am stuck so
- any help would be appreciated.
-
- Please email to jmc20392@uxa.cso.uiuc.edu your followups unless you think
- that they will be of interest to the rest of the group.
-
- Thanks,
-
