- Being the proud owner of a practically vintage mac IIci, the only
- machine still available without sound input, I'm sick of those pesky
- LC owners taunting me with their ability to input sound files. I'm
- looking for something to record sound (obviously) and would like it to
- be able to do the following.
-
- - Work with serial ports other than the stock modem/printer
- I know this is a software issue, but I have all but one port
- on my Quadralink board filled (4 serial devices and localtalk) so I'd
- prefer software that worked with the Comm Toolbox - at least to
- address the port. I hate mapping
-
- - Allow me to input directly from a CD player/VCR etc...
- I don't want to have to hold a microphone up to a speaker - I
- should be able to wire everything up directly.
-
- - Not cost an outrageous amount of money.
- I have seen the plans for the SID, CEDAR etc.. stuff but I'm
- busy on my thesis and don't have time to whip out the old soldering
- iron.
-
- The things that I have been looking at are (naturally) MacRecorder and
- MacRecorder Plus, Voice Impact and Voice Impact Pro. Sadly the only
- such device available at the MacWorld Expo was the MacRecorder Plus
- for the oh so special show price of $200.
-
- Hold me back. I really want to spend $200 for something that comes
- free with a PB100? There must be something else out there! If
- necessary I can give up on the serial port issue, I suspect nothing
- will work with the ToolBox and I can always shop around for new
- software later.
-
- If you've read this far, thanks.
