- I would have thought that they would be working to reduce variety in the
- inventory, as evidenced in the 140-145 cpu upgrade, but one also has to
- consider supply problems. Consolidation leads to larger volume purchases,
- and at some point, that ceases to be good, because it can strain the
- producers ability to deliver.

- Sears really made an impact on merchandizing with its low/middle/high
- marketing strategy. Even Piano vendors feel the need to have 3 flavors of
- product to offer the customer, so Apple has 9" screen, a crippled modular,
- and a confusion of high end machines, each with early obsolescense.

- It has occured to me that Apple may simply be running out all of its
- current design work, so as to get *some* return from all ongoing
- development, in order to 'clear house' for a switch in emphasis to the
- taligent product.
