- From some of the messages posted around here recently, I gather that
- Intel has announced that there will be no more development of the i860
- line. This is somewhat surprising, since the 860 has been used as a
- high-speed FP processor in many designs, but I guess most of them
- were rather low-volume. Anyway, is there anybody out there who can
- confirm this "for sure"? Does this simply mean that no new members of
- the family will appear in the future, or is Intel going to drop support/
- manufacturing of the devices? Pointers to articles relating to this would
- also be appreciated.
-
- Thanks in advance,
- JF
