  15. I am posting this to inform you that 486DX2-66 systems are now available.
  16. At least one of the larger chain of computer stores (ESCOM Office) here 
  17. in Germany now has them in stock. I have taken a quick look at the 486DX2-66
  18. at the local branch of ESCOM Office and run some benchmarks on it. While the 
  19. benchmarks showed appropriate speedup from a 486DX2-50, the machine doesn't
  20. feel that much faster. This is probably because the peripherals are not
  21. speeded up (same hard disk and graphics card as in their 486DX2-50) linearly
  22. with the CPU. The 486DX2-66 sells for about US$400 more than the same
  23. configuration with a 486DX2-25. The store manager told me they have an 
  24. extra fan mounted on top of the CPU in all their DX2 systems. At 4 and 5
  25. Watt power dissipation for the 486DX2-50 and DX2-66 according to the Intel
  26. data sheets, this makes a lot of sense to me.
