- The 16550AFN is a bug fix for the 16550AN. One engineer said unofficially that
- the F simply stood for fixed. FYI, the N means that it is a socket/pin type
- chip, while a 16550AFV is the same chip in a solder-on package.
- Back to your question, I don't remember exactly what was wrong with the
- original 16550AN, but I do think it was something that a person would notice.
