- In the past, I have read that when hooking up 2 IDE drives, sometimes
- problems occur because not all IDE drives are compatible to be used with
- all other IDE drives. Currently I have a Conner 120MB IDE drive (don't
- have the model number handy, but I just got the computer in Feb. '92, so
- it's a new one). I am interested in adding a Maxtor 210 MB hard drive as
- drive D in my system. I called a mail-order vendor and he told me that
- Conners and Maxtors do not get along well, that I should get either another
- Conner or a Seagate (both more expensive!)... Okay, I thought... Then I
- was reading last month's PC Magazine, where it says that nearly all IDE
- drives made in the last two years are completely compatible with each
- other! My question (obviously!) is, will my Conner 120MB work with a new
- Maxtor 210 MB or not??? Any help would be appreciated; if the model numbers
- are required, e-mail me, I can take my trusty old screwdriver out and find
- out!! Thanks a lot!
