- Hi All,
- Could any of you SCSI gurus out there please confirm this:
-
- Page 7-5 of the Adaptec AHA-1740A/1742A/1744 Tech. Ref. Man. states:
-
- 'SCSI devices are addressed by logical block address without regard to
- the physical geometry of the disk. For this reason, all SCSI devices are
- ^^^
- defined as drives with 64 heads and 32 sectors/track'
- ^^ ^^
-
- Q: Can I take this as true i.e use #define HEADS 64 etc when writing
- software for creating boot blocks?
-
- From experience it seems to be true and would make things easier to do.
-
- Thanks for your help,
- Garrett Burke,
- Computer Architecture Group, TCD.
