- They cost *a lot* more. I have seen prices for overdrive that are quite
- a bit higher than that of a *motherboard* with the same speed.

- If Overdrive were not so high in price, one could buy a CPUless 486sx
- motherboard (several manufacturers actually do have motherboards that
- can take one of 386DX, 486SX, 486DX, with a universal socket) and put in
- it just the Overdrive.

- As things currently are the best upgrade paths are:

- 1) get a DX2 from a chip merchant. Hard to find one.

- 2) get a whole new motherboard.

- 3) wait for Cyrix's 486 clone that is double clocked and has the same
- pins as a 386DX, and then buy that and a 386DX motherboard.
