- I ran into a problem with a Seagate ST1102A. The drive wasn't supported
- by the CMOS setup, so I had to use the "user defined" type. The motherboard
- was a PC-CHIPS 286-20. Every time it boots, I have to hit "F1". Norton
- SI complains of disk errors, and Norton SD lists a lot of bad blocks at
- the end. A diagnostics program (don't remember which one, it's been a
- while) claimed that the drive reported itself as being a type 80. Weird.
- I suspect the cheap motherboard or BIOS is at fault. At least I hope so,
- because I'm putting the drive in a 386SX in about a week. I'd try an
- IDE card with a BIOS, but that is a last resort. :)
-
- I got the drive from USA Flex with *NO* documentation, unless you count
- the crappy computer printout that listed the drive parameters and that
- it passed the QC tests. Can someone tell me if there are any jumpers
- or anything that affect the operation of this drive? I'd like to have
- an idea what to do if I run into problems when I put it in the SX.
-
- Thanks in advance,
