- This evening I discovered that there was a problem with one of
- my hard disk partition folders. Specifically, my utilities folder had
- become corrupt. I could not drag the folder into the trash can for
- successful deletion. Instead I did a 'copy' under TOS 1.4 to my TMP
- dir on the same partition. It copied successfully. So, I deleted the
- folder out of the TMP dir. I rebuilt the dir from backups. Then I rebooted.
- When the system came up, the contents of my E:\ partition was
- showing up in my D:\ partition (the one with original problem) and the E:\
- partition was no where to be found. The C:\ (boot) partition was fine.
- The I used ICD's 'rebuild partition' utility in the ICDFMT program. Now,
- both the D:\ and E:\ partition's register as existing and empty. When I
- look at sector info with Disk Doctor, I see that all the original files
- are on the disk (ie. it wasn't wiped). This represents about 2600 files
- and no user files backed-up.
- THE QUESTION: How do I restore the FAT in the partitions so that the
- dir points to all the files? Is there program I can get to do this? I
- have no programming experience. Am I completely f*ucked??
- Any help would be appreciated... I'd hate to have to reformat.
