  11. If this person has a way of getting an account with a Michigan mainframe,
  12. he might try checking into the MERIT/MichNET thing.  There might be a local
  13. node in his area.  I used to use this to call Compuserve and GEnie when
  14. I had accounts with them.  The connection was limited to ASCII, so I couldn't
  15. download/upload files, but since there was a MERIT node in Houghton, and
  16. no GEnie or CIS node, I called these services through MERIT.  CIS was free,
  17. GEnie was something like a couple cents per call charged through MERIT.
