  16. I've always wanted to dabble in writing BBS-type software...  Well, the
  17. "high-level" part of BBS software (like the code that handles the user
  18. interface, that keeps track of where things are, that provides access to
  19. new and unique services, that sort of thing).  What I have no desire to
  20. write, though, is things like the code to do an xmodem file transfer
  21. (for example), or the code that determines what speed somebody logged in
  22. at & then sets the RS-232 port appropriately...  etc.

  24. What I'm wondering is this: does there exist a body of code, in the public
  25. domain, that handles the kinds of things I've indicated as "icky" ?  :-)
