- Well, after reading this group for sometime now I thought I would share my
- ideas about the future of Atari and perhaps some of the things they are
- doing wrong.
-
- My biggest turnoff of Atari the company (by the way, I do own a Mega STe.)
- is the fact that they wait too long. They wait too long to deliver any
- new products, they wait too long to inform the public on much of anything
- and it is an absolute killer. Quite frankly, I am surprised that they are
- still in busines.
-
- Reading all of the articles pertaining to the Falcon on this group makes
- me happy and said. Happy because the Atari users are very faithful and
- loyal users, and sad because I know that it will take Atari quite sometime
- to deliver on any of "her" promises. I am particularly disatisfied with
- Atari's performance because of the rumors I hear. Rumors which state that
- the new Falcon will have the 68030. Sure this is impressive for the
- average Atari user who is primarily an Atari user, but what type of
- company would put a chip in a new computer that is slowly becoming too
- slow. For example, NeXT Inc. contained the 68030 chip in some of the
- first computers they came out with. Now, they are being shipped with the
- 68040 chip at approx. 33 mHz (if I am not mistaken). In any case, they
- are soon going to be shipping their computers with a new chip which is
- supposed to be even faster. My question is, why would any company, I
- don't care who it is, invest in technology which has surpassed and will
- soon be taken over by something else. I would agree with them if they
- shiped their computers with 68040, but I can't believe that they would
- like to slow themselves (the company) down by installing yesterday's
- technology. It just doesn't make sense.
-
- As for the new support groups trying to get Atari back and supportive, I
- just don't see it happening. Do you recall the "Atari Revolution"? How
- much success was generated by that?
-
- Just my $.02 worth.
