- I bought a used Apple IIc computer about a month ago. Everything worked on
- it fine. I had no problems until yesterday.
-
- I have been downloading, copying and formatting disks for a while, but just
- recently my disk drive will only let me read from a disk. When I try to
- write to the disk, it damages the disk and puts errors on it.
-
- I checked with a disk utility, and it consistently puts errors on sector 11
- of the disk. I know the disks were not damaged, since I check the disks
- before trying to format them. I have disks that were successfully
- formatted before get damaged by trying to write to them. After attempting
- to write to that disk, it will no longer boot.
-
- This has happened to both Dos 3.3 and ProDos disks.
-
- I also have an external disk drive (old Apple ][ drive) that was working
- before, but now it does the exact same thing as the internal drive. It
- will only read, and when it writes, it damages the disk.
-
- I thought the was a little strange. I was wondering if a damaged disk drive
- card could cause problems like this? It is a bit odd that two drives that
- were working before, both all of a sudden will not write to disk any more.
-
- Could you post or email any suggestions or hints?
-
- Any help would be greatly appreciated.
