- I know this may not please some people, but GS owners should think about
- the quality and type of software produced for it. There's only a finite
- amount of money available, and one doesn't want it going to sw which is
- of dubious value.
-
- Dragons' Lair, Space Ace (which I own, unfortunately), etc...are not ideal
- for computer platforms. They belong on game consoles where in fact most
- game development is headed.
-
- The GS is ideal for multimedia, sound , etc...There is far too little
- educational software being developed. Even companies such as Broderbrund
- are developing for the IIe, not the GS. For example the TreeHouse. The
- Learning Company has several neat educational programs in their Super
- Solver Series, but none for the GS. And you want Dragon's Lair!
-
- CD's are where these programs belong (or LD's). Why isn't there more attention
- being paid to getting HyperCard/HyperStudio type programs on the GS? Cosmic
- Osmos, Spelnux, etc...are examples of what we should be seeing. For people
- who want arcade games, etc...you don't need a 10 disk game. The Taito
- products were excellent, addictive, but reasonable in size.
-
- Better people buy Bright software's games, or get the shareware Coloumns GS,
- Boggled GS, etc...( these latter from Kenrick Mock et al) than to be
- wasting money on Space Ace. There are other programs out there of note such
- as Dark Castle, Bill Heineman's ports, etc...
-
- The GS has its strengths. It also is not perfect. It's best to concentrate
- on areas where is can do well than where it only comes up a poor third.
-
- For the life of me, I don't understand why there is no KidPix or equivalent
- for it.
-
- And it wouldn't hurt to have a word processor which accepting pasting of
- inline equations, or a faxmodem (that worked), or a good sequencer and
- something like KidWorks( which would be ideal for it).
-
- Finally where is there a driver for the DeskWriter (C) which runs over
- Appletalk? And what about TeX, which was supposed to be ported?
-
- Anyway, my 2 cents worth.
