  19. There's a bit of a story here. The Ramfast rom 1.x let you have partitions
  20. as big as you wanted. However, since only prodos was available then, you
  21. only got 32 megs of usable space on each partition no matter how big it was.
  22. CVT got sick of people calling them and complaining about 'I bought this huge
  23. drive and it only says I have 32 megs free!' so for rom 2.x they limited
  24. partition sizes to 32 megs. Then system 6 came out and HFS was available and
  25. they realized they had to pull the 32 meg limit back out. So for rom 3.x they
  26. allow partitions of any size again.

  28. In short, this is a rom 3.x feature. You really should have rom 3.x if you're
  29. running P8 2.0 or later with 8-bit stuff -- AppleWorks 3.0 and Copy II+ get
  30. VERY confused if both P8 and the RamFast remap extra volumes.

  35. When you partitioned with the Ramfast 2.x, all you got was 32 meg partitions
  36. and free (unused) physical space on the disk that is not assigned to any
  37. partition -- that's why ADU won't format it for you. Use ADU to PARTITION the
  38. drive, so you can add some large partitions to the disk. Once you have put
  39. some large partitions on the disk, you can use anything (ADU, finder, whatever)
  40. to format them.
