- This is my first time attempting to post anything, so if anything's
- wrong, please bear with me... :)
-
- First of all, I have an Amiga 500 with 1.3 Kickstart.
-
- Anyway, a few days ago I got an IVS Trumpcard 500AT with only the
- interface and the board (no memory, no HD). The version that came with
- the installation software was Revision 1.1 and the ROM on the board is
- revision 1.2
-
- Today I bought a 120.6 MB hard drive and I believed I installed it
- properly (the manual said everything was polarized so you couldn't fit it
- wrong)... As soon as I installed the HD, I inserted the Trumpcard into the
- expansion slot of the A500. When I booted, everything seemed to go fine
- and the installation software starts getting loaded. Then when the WB
- screen came up, I double clicked on the "TCUtil" icon and it started
- loading... The title screen came on... the hard drive light turns on
- and off for a few times (the hard drive noise could be heard)... Then
- the hard drive would stop, but no "format" screen ever popped up for the
- installation program.
-
- I tried holding down the left mouse button, but when I do that it doesn't
- boot the floppy at all.
-
- Although I don't have any memory installed yet, I attempted to run the
- memory check program, but it simply freezes up on me. My jumpers are set
- on "TEST" and "0K", a jumper for each. I also have the other jumper on
- autoboot, although I tried autoboot off but it still didn't work.
-
- Did anyone ever have this problem? Or does anyone know what's going on?
- Is there a jumper I didn't get somewhere? Or does it seem like the
- software might be the problem... or even the IVS ROM? I noticed that
- the revision for the disk is 1.1, but the ROM is 1.2, does that matter?
- The reason I think it might be the software is due to the fact that when
- I attempted the memory test (with the proper jumpers), it freezes up,
- and I'm not even able to select the "QUIT" button, or any button for that
- matter... The program just freezes.
-
- The funny thing is when I pull the Trumpcard out, the software works fine
- and simply tells me that the Trumpcard is not detected...
-
- So does anyone know what's wrong? I've never had a hard drive before,
- and this is kind of getting me a little upset... uh...
