  13.    I just purchased the Xetec driver with two CD's last week. The cost
  14. was 50 dollars directly from Xetec.  Software installation was easy with
  15. there install program.  My only complaint may be that there second CD needs
  16. to be updated as the latest Fred Fish was only 470.  The disks do include
  17. other software and picture/sound files for a total of about 800 meg.
  18.    I also tried some CDTV titles with mixed success.  I could not get music
  19. maker and some game (forgot) to work.  It may be caused by background
  20. programs or not enough chip ram. I never experimented to try to get them
  21. to work.

  45. On 2.0 and newer systems (sorry 1.3 users), when an audio CD is loaded, an
  46. icon labeled "CDDA" appears on Workbench.  By double-clicking on it, the
  47. disc begins playing or the CD_Remote is brought up.

  49. The cdx.device is used by the CD Remote program and the CDxFileSystem to
  50. control the drive.  Programmers may find the device useful for controlling the
  51. drive from within their own programs.  In the "Programming" directory is
  52. documentation and examples for using the device properly.

  54. The new cdx.device now has an ARexx interface, as well.  You can control the
  55. audio functions of the drive by writing simple ARexx programs.

  57. This release of the cdx.device should support any SCSI CD-ROM drive, as

  68. CDTV Emulation Software

  70. The following set of devices & programs comprise the CDx system's CDTV
  71. emulation software.  These programs give your Amiga/CDx software combo the
  72. extra features found on a CDTV machine.

  74. The cdtv.device
  75.  
  76. This device is now included to enhance CDTV compatibility.  On a CDTV machine
  77. this is the device that gives the programmer low-level access to the CD-ROM.
  78. Our cdtv.device emulates these same functions on your Amiga/CDx-650 system.

  80. The bookmark.device
  81.  
  82. This device is also included to improve CDTV compatibility.  CDTV machines
  83. have a small amount of non-volatile RAM which can be used to hold high
  84. scores, program options, etc. as well as the preferences for the machine.
  85. This RAM is accessed through the bookmark.device.  Since the standard Amiga
  86. has no such RAM, our version of the bookmark.device simulates non-volatile
  87. RAM using a disk file.

  91. This library is included to provide additional CDTV compatibility.  Various
  92. programs, including "bookit", require this library to function properly.

  96. This release of the CDx-650 Install Disk contains automatic startup scripts
  97. for various CDTV titles, sorted by category.  Also, two generic startups
  98. are now included which can be used to start most other titles -- one kills
  99. all fast RAM before starting the disc, the other does not.
