- It was prolly my posting you saw, Jim.
- Okay, let's see here...(eyeballing leaflet)...
- Epson America Inc., 2780 Lomita Blvd., Torrance, CA 90505 can be reached
- for free by voice at 1-800-922-8911. I'm lookin at an advertising
- tear sheet for the ES300C (which you could probably ask them to send
- to you.. it's fulla specs.. or you could ask for the nearest (to you)
- dealer and try to get a copy from them). The tear sheet's part number
- is CPD-1088-6/9-100,000-SCG with a 1990 copyright date on it.
- Is there any other flatbed scanner for the Amiga in the class of the
- ES300C and the JX320? Uh.. can't think of any except for the Phovos
- 300C which is an OEM'd clone of the ES300C, and I believe there's one
- called the La Cie (or marketed by a co. with that name) which is also
- an ES300C clone. There's the HPScanJet but I don't know of Amiga support.
-
- The Latest ADPro supports the ES300C (and the Phovos) via a separate
- ES300C driver package which includes software & cable and runs either
- as a loader inside of ADPro or in a freestanding "scan to disk" version.
- I'm not certain about how ADPro supports the JX320... so let's see if
- Perry can chime in here on that one.
-
- Flatbed scanners generally don't come with ANY software for the Amiga
- or for anything else. Think of it like a printer. The mfr doesn't know
- what kind of computer you're going to hook it to so you buy the scanner
- and then buy your computer's flavor of driver/cable separately, although
- some dealers, like Creative, are bundling ASDG's Epson driver with the
- scanner for a fairly attractive price (see their Amiga World ads).
- The Migraph OCR software won't directly drive the ES300C (unless they've
- changed it since I last saw it) but rather it'll take saved
- IFF or TIFF output from the scanner (saved out of ADPro) and then
- work with that instead. The Migraph software expects, I think,
- 1 bitplane (2 color) files and ADPro & its Epson loader can deliver
- that.
-
- Hmm.. I'm gettin a case of deja vu here, Jim.. as though you'd asked
- these things here a couple weeks ago and I supplied all the same
- answers. :-)
-
- But.. whatever.
