-
- If they told you this, they are confusing issues. Both PostScript
- and non-PostScript printers can include resolution enhancement
- features. More important than PostScript? I'd pick PostScript over a
- non-PostScript enhanced resolution printer. PostScript isn't just a
- bunch of pretty fonts, it's a complete page description programming
- language. As such, it's far more powerful and flexible than a
- standard printer. However, if you don't have the skills/time/interest
- to take advantage of PostScript's power, then the extra money might
- not be worth it in your particular case. You'll have to decide.

-
- Depending on the type of printer, you need at least 3-5 megs of memory
- to do any useful, professional graphics work on a PostScript printer.
-
- Here's a suggestion, if you are constrained by your budget to buy a
- non-PostScript 300 dpi printer. Create the images as large as you
- can, with nice thick, clear lines on good quality bright white paper.
- Then take this original to your nearest service bureau that does
- photocopies. Ask them to reduce it 64% onto transparency film on
- their photocopier. You'll get better quality transparencies (with
- less wear and tear on your printer), and the reduction process will
- clean up some of the jaggies. Also photocopy toner generally more
- stable than consumer grade laser toner. It cracks and peels less over
- time. /
