- Yeah the problem with companies like Sierra and Origin is they can't program
- the amiga themselves worth beans and then when they go and contract another
- company to do it, they somehow manage to find the most incompetent amiga
- programmers on the planet and give them the job. I don't know about Willy
- Beamish, but I had a go at Ultima 6. Dissassembled parts of the code to see
- where things could be speeded up (such as keyboard response!) but the problem
- is that everything is so ingrained in there its pretty much impossible to fix
- it to go faster. Ugh. Maybe if I had some of the original source. Anyhow..
- speaking of pathetic conversions.. has anyone seen the Wing Commander Preview?
-
- HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! That's the most pathetic piece of $#!T I have ever seen!
- (well.. games like ultima 6 and Hero's quest II were slower.. so I guess they
- fall in the same category of totally pathetic programming). Speed isn't top
- notch in this game, but that's not the main problem. THe problem is the
- graphics. WHAT THE HELL DID THEY USE FOR CONVERTING THE GRAPHICS?! I think
- I could have done a better job by using AdPro and just converting from 256
- down to 32 or whatever they are using. Ridiculous amount of dithering even
- when they don't use those actual pure colors etc. Seems like there was 0
- touching up of the graphics! Most of the stuff looks like it was sent through
- a blender! So much for waiting for that game.. and I was looking forward to
- it too since Origin had contracted a separate company to do the conversion.
-
- Why do they even spending the time/energy/money in making Amiga Conversions if
- they are going to do such a bad job? They're obviously not going to sell many
- copies (and the ones they sell.. simply on the merit of the game's name and
- nothing else). If they're going to do a conversion.. get a GOOD development
- house to take the project. I'm so disgusted...
