- I've finally managed to get VLT set up on my system, but I am finding that
- it does not appear to be as configurable as JRComm in terms of setting up
- screen emulations... *sigh*
-
- I am using vt102 emulation to call a unix machine. I have set no wrap and
- 80 columns. HOWEVER... vi (the editor I use with news here) WILL NOT
- cooperate!
-
- I have also set the amiga side to workbench screen and am using NTSC HIRES
- interlace mode.
-
- I do NOT get 80 columns...I appear to be getting 76 columns. Incoming
- messages are getting their sentences truncated if they are 80 lines long.
-
- In one of the skinny font modes (I don't know what it is...:<) my supposed
- 80 columns are 76 characters on one line and 4 characters on the next line.
-
- This is creating havoc with vi. Also, insert mode in vi has been giving
- me weird typos and what I *THINK* I have just typed to a friend, isn't
- really there, or hasn't been deleted as I thought it had. (My mail lately
- looks like it was typed by a drunkard, words missing, sentences reversed,
- etc)
-
- HEEELLLPP!!!!
-
-
- Also, has anyone had the annoying problem of downloading using Kermit on
- VLT and getting numerous errors and timeouts WHEN USING THE AMIGA windows
- for something else while the kermit download is taking place??
-
- I can't create icons, or use DirWorks or ANYTHING without killing the
- download in progress (well, not killed exactly, but I get so many errors
- that I have to abort the job). And vi just jumped to the next line after
- typing that right parenthese and took the period with it when it jumped.
-
- *sigh*
-
- I suspect VLT is meant to be used by programmers, not a "typical" user.
-
- Will I need to learn AREXX in order to use this program in the same way
- that other programs have this stuff already built in?
-
-
- Thanks in advance...

-
- oh...and the system is: 2000, 2.04, 1M-Agnus/2M-Fast with a harddrive
- (if this makes any difference)
