  24. So you print out the !Help file - adds, what, 10p to the cost? Anyway, most
  25. PD applications don't need manuals.

  28. guess that the "hardware" cost of one copy of Impression is maybe 10-20 pounds,
  29. so they have something like 90% profit margin - on the other hand, they spent
  30. about three years writing it with no return.

  32.   The bottom line is that you sell things for whatever price you like, and
  33. people decide if they want to buy at that price. Most people release something
  34. as PD because either it isn't good enough to sell, or they don't want the
  35. hassle involved in commercial selling. A small number of people are generous
  36. enough to provide commercial-quality software, with a commercial level of
  37. support, for free, and should be praised for their generosity.
